The Myth About “Fattening” Foods

Will you gain weight eating large fries in a fast food? Will you lose weight eating fruits and vegetables?
The answer to both is: Not Necessarily.

Allow us to explain. Let’s assume your daily requirements are: 2,000 calories/day.

In the first example, your diet consists of eating 3 daily meals in a fast food and all you eat are large fries:
1 large fries (per meal) = 550 calories
3 large fries (for the day) = 1650 calories
Daily Balance = 2000 - 1650 = 350 calories

In the second example, all you eat are 5 meals of 4 large bananas each:
1 banana = 110 calories
20 (5 x 4) bananas = 2200 calories
Daily balance = 2000 - 2200 = -200 calories

So, yes eating 3 large fries is a better weight loss option than eating 20 bananas in a day.

Of course, Zlimmer! is not recommending eating 3 large fries (or for that matter 20 bananas) per day. What we are saying is this: Fast food doesn’t automatically make you fat; fruits & vegetables don’t automatically make you thin. Furthermore, having a meal at a fast food isn’t some deadly weight loss sin that has no salvation.

Bottom line: When it comes to weight management - more than any other factor - It’s a numbers game.

Something Else To Ponder:
Instead of 20 bananas, let’s take 15. That’s 1650 calories - equivalent of 3 large fries. What will fill you up better - 15 large bananas or 3 large fries? We think the answer is obvious. But we at the Z! won’t lecture you about fruits & vegetables. We’ll just advise you to experiment a little with different foods and see what fills you up the best, with the least amount of calories.

Chances are the food that fills you up the best would be a pretty good option in more ways than one.
