7 Great Reasons Why You Should Never Go on a Diet
If your goal is to lose weight and maintain the weight loss, Diets, with NO exceptions, are the worst way to do it. Here’s why:
1. You Start Craving A Certain Type Of Food:
If you’re only “allowed” to eat a certain type of food, you start craving that food more than ever. This craving becomes increasingly difficult to deal with and eventually you cave in. Diets that stop you from eating a particular type of food inevitably lead to failure.
Zlimmer! Recommends: If you want to eat something, eat it! Just decrease the quantity or simply put down the calorie number - not matter how big it is - and move on. It’s not an issue in the overall scheme of things.
2. What Are You Going To Do Once The Diet Ends?
Even if you’re losing weight with the diet, what happens when it ends? Do you plan to be on a diet for the rest of your life? You have to learn how your weight works to lose weight - might as well do it from day one.
3. Most Of Them Are Fads & Pseudoscience*:
*Pseudoscience: An activity resembling science but based on incorrect or misleading assumptions.
Most of these diets are based on some latest “scientific” study that has a “stunning”, “new” discovery on weight loss. Is that low-carbs “discovery” still around? Unless you have a secret desire to be a Guinea Pig - Stay far away.
4. Waste Of Money:
Even if the diet is based on simply providing you with foods that lower your calorie intake, the cost you have to pay for these diets make one thing certain - they would be hard to sustain in the long term.
Do some research on your own. Not only does this give you better choices to work with, you also have the benefit of picking what works for you. Don’t waste your money.
5. Unnecessary Complications:
Weight Loss will always be about this: Eat less, Burn more. Many of these weight loss processes make it unnecessarily complicated.
Zlimmer! Recommends: Understanding your weight, setting a goal and making day to day changes in the simplest possible way to get to it.
6. Great Annoyance For The Whole Family!
Does any of this sound familiar: You tell your wife that all you can eat are steak and chicken for 3 weeks before you can start eating a pretzel every Thursday afternoon - but it has to be 32 minutes before going to bed. Or you get angry at your boyfriend for ordering pizza when you “clearly” can’t have one for the first 18.71 days of your new diet?
Yes these pointless diets get annoying for the entire family. Instead, let them get that pizza or the donuts & join in. Grab a slice and savor it - for a while - or simply let go today and be careful tomorrow. In the long run: Find delicious foods that are better options.
Zlimmer Recommends: Good Taste: Better Foods.
7. The Proof Is In The Pudding:
Bottom line: A $40 billion diet industry yet obesity has kept getting worse over the years. ‘Nuff Said!
