8. Is it Really Something to Worry About?
At 18, you’re still growing. If you gain a pound or two, it may only be your natural weight gain. So unless you see your belly protruding - Don’t worry about it.

9. Save the Drinking for the Parties:
Try and see if you can limit the alcohol consumption to parties. If you can do that, it’ll make your weight management much easier.

It’s college. Because of time and cost reasons, eating fast food is almost inevitable. It’s important to learn to manage your weight while keeping the fast food option.

11. Make Like-Minded Friends:
You probably have a number of social clubs and competitive teams at your college that congregate around a physical activity.

Join some of these and you’ll make lots of friends interested in staying fit.

Even if you have an all-you-can-eat buffet at the cafeteria, avoid the 2nd helping. Pick what you like in one go and stick with what you have picked for that meal.

13. A Set Sleeping Schedule Helps:
If you can go to sleep and wake up at around the same time - Even if you’re going to sleep late at night - It will help you manage your weight. This allows you keep track of when you eat the most and plan accordingly.

14. Know What 15 Pounds is:
Let’s say you have ended up gaining some weight. Here’s why it’s no big deal (we’ll do an example for 15 pounds, of course this can be different you - But the same principles would apply there as well):

1 Pound = 3500 Calories, therefore 15 Pounds would equal (3,500 x 15) about 50,000 calories.

This means if you can start eating about as much as your daily requirement and add 1 hour of good exercise that burns about 500 calories, you’ll lose it in less than 4 months.

Losing the weight will be simple as long as you keep it simple. All weight loss diets are pointless - without exception.

Learning to manage your weight and simplifying the process as much as possible will enable you to stay within your healthy weight range not just in college but for the rest of your life.
