Foods like eggs, beans & fish keep you filled up for a longer period of time. Have more of these at Sehri.

9. Have a Nice, Attractive Iftar:
Having your family’s support when managing your weight is a huge bonus. One sure fire way to lose this support: Take the treats out of Iftar!

In part one we recommended a budget of 550-600 Calories for Iftar. This can easily cater to a very nice selection of treats - if you watch the quantity of what you’re eating.

10. Don’t Change Your Sleep Routine Too Much:
Of course you have to wake up early for Sehri but beyond that make sure that your sleep routine does not change much.

Sleeping in may mean fewer hours of being hungry but it also means more time to eat at night. To get the weight management benefits of fasting, stay as close to your pre-Ramadan routine as possible.

11. Change The Cooking Method/Recipe:

Chances are that you’ll end up with some great lower calorie but similar tasting alternatives to your favorite foods. E.g.:

How does Baked Samosas Sound?

12. Be Selective in Accepting Iftar Invitations:
If you have Iftar outside the house, you won’t have the luxury of pre-planning the meal by yourself. We recommend being very selective over the Iftar parties you attend. Go for the most important ones and politely decline others.

13. Get in to the Spirit of Ramadan:
It’s 30 minutes to Iftar and you can feel a post Iftar binge coming up. This will be the ideal time to reflect on why you’re fasting. If you can ponder and discuss this with your family & friends, the Iftar hunger won’t seem as bad any more.

Don’t worry about your weight management targets for the 3 days of Eid. Even if you eat an extra 1,000 Calories a day you will only gain about a pound.
Simply enjoy your Eid!
