Quick Tips: Using Better Alternatives - 1
The simplest way to make the right food changes for weight loss is to assess what you’re eating right now and replace some of the items with similar but lower-calorie options. This will ensure a smooth transition to better eating habits. The tips below are designed to help you save a few calories without making any major changes:
1. Don’t fry it:
Instead of frying it in the traditional manner, try a nonstick cooking spray instead.
Alternatively, you can boil it, broil it, grill it, roast it, or bake it. The important thing is to cut down on oil and avoid fried food as much as possible.
2. Better beverage options:
Water is of course the best option but there are also other beverages that won’t do much harm to your weight management goals. Here are a few examples you can build on:
- Lemonade with artificial sweetener.
- Pure Orange juice or pure fruit juice of any kind.
- Coffee or tea with skimmed milk and artificial sweetener.
- If you want to drink cola, try the diet versions. Some of them are hardly one or two calories each.If you don’t like the taste, add a little lime to your cola and it will taste great.
- With beer, you can save about 40 calories a can going to the “lite” brands. Check the calories on your alcoholic beverage and use your good judgment to decide whether or how much you can drink.
3. More ice in your beverage:
If you can not drink the diet version, fill your glass with ice cubes. So instead of one full glass, with the extra ice, you end up having half a glass.
