Quick Tips: Exercising Regularly - 2

4. Play With Your Kids:
If you have kids, spend some daily quality time with them - Outdoors. A regular half an hour of activity with your kids is not only good for your health but your kids’ health as well. With obesity hitting hard at a young age, this will be a good habit to develop for the entire family. If you don’t have kids, spend some time outdoors with your spouse or a friend.

5. Get A Dog:
Walking the dog can burn between 200-400 calories an hour. If you have a dog but hire someone else to walk it right now, start doing it yourself.

6. Give Yourself Points For Every Time You Exercise:
An immediate reward helps. Something similar to frequent flyer points can work wonders. Become a “frequent exerciser” and redeem your reward points, once you reach a certain number, by buying something (non-food) that you enjoy. Some ideas: Video game, clothes, anything you like.

If you are keeping track of what you are eating, which we strongly recommend you do, simply subtract the calories you have just burned from the total calories consumed in the day. This gives you an immediate reward and you can be fairly confident of where you stand in the overall picture of your weight loss.
