About Zlimmer!

What is Zlimmer.com?

Zlimmer.com was created with 1 goal in mind: Make Healthy Weight Simple.

How Do You Make it Simple?

Every answer we give, every step we take, (every move we make) is designed to make healthy weight less complicated and more in line with your daily life.

For example:

  • We don’t hate (on?) Ice Cream. We love ice cream. Our goal is for you to enjoy ice cream in your life not stop eating altogether (nor see it as a treat for being “good” for 2 weeks… egad!)
  • We do hate aerobics and all repetitive exercise. Instead, we’ll passionately tell you to find an exercise you like, it could be as varied as hiking, DDR, Other forms of dancing, sports – you know - stuff that’s enjoyable. You don’t have to exercise for the sake of exercise!
  • We completely ignore Proteins, Carbohydrates, Vitamin Z93, Fats etc. etc. Is that a good thing? Yes. Calories are enough “fun” already
  • We don’t obsessively suggest counting calories either. Infact, our entire goal for the Zlimmer! Food Rules is to help teach you how to asses not obsess the numbers in foods!
  • The aim of our 30 day course is to help you successfully manage your weight in 10 minutes a day.

And we can go on for a while with these examples but let’s put it this way: In Sesame Street terms, this healthy weight answer has been bought to you by the word “simple” and the number “365”!

Are You Doctors/Nutritionist/"Miscellaneous Certified Weight Loss Experts”:

No. Straightforward: N-O!

This course was created by people who been through the process of weight loss, know every nook and corner of it, know the frustrations. That’s very different from the ethical and very healthy but also very impractical (yeah!) solutions that doctors and nutritionists give.

For example: Question: I am eating a Double Quarter Pounder each day at McDonald’s because it’s only fast food near my office. What do I do?

  • A sample nutritionist answer: That’s an easy one (Fat Bastard), replace the Quarter Pounder with Carrots and Broccoli
  • Our sample answer: Let’s see if we can find alternative burgers/sandwiches/chicken while still eating at McDonald’s that fits better with your healthy weight goals. Big Difference in answers. No we’re NOT doctors or nutritionists but our strength is living & making it happen in our average life without huge changes!

(We can call it Joe 6-Pack Weight Management but that dish may be overcooked by now!)

How Did You Come Up With the Zlimmer! Course:

*Sigh*.

This is a long story, so you may want to sit down for this.

(Why were you surfing the net standing up anyway? Huh?)

Here’s a partial list of our failures to begin with:

  • Attempt to convert fat into muscle x 1
  • Attempt to convert fat into muscle x 2 (1 year later)
  • Jenny Craig (Enquired but never bought it – the reason in a second)
  • No “Fattening” Foods diet (you know the “eye of the tiger approach: no pizza, no chocolate etc.) x (at least) 5
  • Attempt to convert fat into muscle x 3
  • Low Carb diet
  • “Herbal” Water + Low-Carb Diet (Don’t Ask)
  • “Herbal” Diet Pills
  • Vegetarian Diet

Why They Didn’t work:

  • Attempt to convert fat into muscle: This is impossible – didn’t know better at the time, so… Doh!
    • Was still impossible a year later (where’s evolution when you need it) – still didn’t know! Double Doh!
    • Still impossible after… you know the rest
  • Jenny Craig – Were in College, was too expensive – we think the reason is very relevant for many (Also, another reason that's relevant for everyone: if you don’t make it happen with foods you buy and eat everyday, it’s not going to happen: Full stop. How long can we be on a diet?)
  • The “let go of all “bad” foods” approach never works for anyone – You want those “bad” foods more than ever before!
  • Low-Carb diet – biggest bunch of, in Rock’s words: “Monkey Crap” ever invented. Here’s how it went:
    • Lost 12 Pounds in 1 Week – Seriously
    • Lost 2 in Week 2
    • Nothing in Week 3 but getting sick of Steaks
    • Gave up the diet after Week 3
    • Gained 20 Pounds in the next 1 month after developing a (very) temporary hate for meat and near obsession for every other food
  • “Herbal” Water. No effect, (except a need to go every 10 minutes) Never, NEVER again.
  • “Herbal” Pills. Nothing bad or good. Just felt nothing.
  • Vegetarian Diet: Lasted for 2 hours. Yeah…

Finally in May, 2004…

After actually taking time to read on the subject – we figure, this really isn’t as complicated as people make it out to be. Although, it was a huge effort trying to simplify it down to the actual keys. On this subject, even the best answers (at the time, we’re the best now – ofcourse!) use the most complicated jargon possible.

The Moment You Start Believing:

When you overeat a lot in a day but have this awesome revelation: One day doesn’t make or break your goals. Sweet!

Of course there were lots of ups and downs from there. Winters for one were tough (especially when trying to lose weight). There was a lack of inspiration at times. Simplifying calorie numbers has been a long process but finally through those and other difficulties we managed to hit & maintain our healthy weight, help other family members do it and constantly improve and update our healthy weight answer. This website, for example, used to be a blog (some of your may remember our blog version)…

But if we tell you everything, you’re not going to buy the book… so stay tuned!

Meanwhile,

All the best in reaching your healthy weight!

Warmest Regards,

Team Zlimmer!
